What is CBD?

Increasingly, the hemp plant is being studied and found to have positive benefits for pain relief, both chronic and acute, for such conditions as arthritis, chronic inflammation and soreness. In addition, CBD is an anti-inflammatory and may have healing and therapeutic effects on the skin.
Skin cells in the body have receptors that cannabidiol (CBD) can act on (the endocannabinoid system (ECS) which is a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors in the human body). CBD can reduce the feeling of pain by directing the nerves to reduce their firing. (To be scientific about it, CBD is a cannabinoid that acts on cannabinoid receptors in cells that alter neurotransmitter release in the brain.) This can result in a relief of pain.
CBD is soluble in fats and oil based products, which means they can be used very effectively in salves and balms.
When applied topically, the CBDs penetrate the outer layer of the skin.
Exciting new research is showing CBD to be effective in treating a number of conditions. Some of the common ailments people use CBD to treat include:
- Anxiety
- Arthritis
- Chronic Pain/Inflammation
- Psoriasis
- Eczema
- Tendonitis
CBD Massage
CBD massages are becoming more popular. A massage using CBD offers an unconventional way to get extra relief from muscle soreness, chronic pain, tension and stress.
When CBD is incorporated into massage therapy the results can be more intense. CBD will bind and act on the CB2 receptors which can be found near the skin. This will activate the endocannabinoid system to deliver relief.
